Transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. It consists of three layers of semiconductor material—emitter, base, and collector—arranged in either NPN or PNP configurations. When a small current flows into the base, it allows a much larger current to pass between the collector and emitter, enabling amplification. Transistors are fundamental components in modern electronics, used in a wide range of applications, from signal processing and amplification to switching circuits in devices like computers, radios, and power supplies. Their reliability, compact size, and ability to control current make them essential for digital logic and analog signal processing in various consumer, industrial, and communication technologies.
